NuCorder, the remote music rehearsal app
NuCorder is a remote music rehearsal app designed for musicians who already play together.
It allows two musicians or a small group to rehearse when distance, travel, scheduling conflicts or the lack of a rehearsal space make meeting in person difficult. With NuCorder, musicians can prepare their setup, join a private room and play together in real time.

How does a remote rehearsal work?
A rehearsal with NuCorder takes place in four steps:
Check that your computer, internet connection and audio equipment are ready.
Create a private session and invite your musical partner or band.
Each musician joins the session from their own computer.
Once everyone is ready and the audio is working in both directions, you can start playing.
NuCorder uses audio processing designed for making music in real time. Unlike video-conferencing tools, which prioritise speech, it aims to reduce the delay between musicians so that playing together remotely is possible.
Important: The quality you experience depends on several factors: the distance between participants, the internet connection, the use of an Ethernet cable, the computer, the audio interface and each musician’s settings.
Performance can vary from one setup to another. The best way to find out whether yours is suitable is to test it with your fellow musicians.

A stable ADSL connection may also work, but the result depends more on its latency and stability.

Does NuCorder replace studio rehearsals?
Not necessarily. Some bands use NuCorder when travelling is difficult. Others use it between studio rehearsals to work on a song, keep a rehearsal going when someone is unavailable or make the most of a short window of time.
NuCorder is a complementary tool: each band can decide how it fits into the way they rehearse.
How do I get started?
Start by choosing the person or group you want to run your first test with.
Prepare both setups before creating a private session. Once both computers are ready, join the session and check that you can hear each other clearly.
